Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967 at Atlanta. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to settle in Atlanta. At an early age, her father was interested in theatre. He acted on at the Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions that were staged around Atlanta. While stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi, he was inducted into the Air Force in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in 1957. Walter was employed as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a children's Sunday matinee show called Bum Bum and His Buddies. In the following year, they established the Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for a period of six years. The couple also had two children: Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa), and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know as Julie).
