Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and is the only person to be recognized with 10/10 scores during an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi was an Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci aged six. She competed at the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, during an event for communist-controlled countries' juniors before the Olympics, she won three medals of gold. In 1973 and '74 she was the all-around junior champ. In her very first competition at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals, as well being awarded a silver. She became the first female to do a reverse double salo with the parallel bar that was uneven when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Marie Wayne is a American citizen who was born on September 6 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol ventured into the world of entertainment in her teens. Her career began with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling performance. Ice Capades showcased performances of skating on ice with actors.
