Laura Linney, best known for her strong but fragile characters, is one of the most acclaimed American actors of today. She was raised by an unmarried mother, who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during summers spent by her famous father. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. In just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut on the world of film and television. She has been featured on a number of shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. She has won many awards during her professional career. This includes four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she has received numerous accolades, she is still a lover of acting and has performed on both screen and stage.
